Sutherland admits Haddin mishandled

Cricket Australia CEO James Sutherland has confessed that the Brad Haddin situation has been slightly mishandled by the national selectors.

I understand over the past couple of weeks there might have been some uncertainty in the public space about this particular selection.

Haddin was axed from the Australian ODI squad at the start of the Commonwealth Bank Series, with chief selector John Inverarity labelling the veteran keeper's exclusion a form of rest. They picked Tasmanian youngster Matthew Wade as his replacement, who started his ODI career in brilliant fashion.
Wade's outstanding start forced the selectors to snub Haddin again and the 32-year old golveman then told the media that he strongly believes he has been dropped and not rested. The selectors still decided to keep their mum over the subject, which only further increased the confusion.
Therefore, Sutherland decided to come forward and explain everything in detail.
The CA supremo said: "Brad's very aware of the position. He's had a number of conversations with the selectors, particularly the national selector over the last few weeks and probably as soon as just over 24 hours ago.
"He knows that he's out of the team on a performance basis and he's under no illusions as to where he sits in selectors' eyes. Personally I understand over the past couple of weeks there might have been some uncertainty in the public space about this particular selection.
"Personally I think we can do better and we need to do better in that regard than we will. We're not comfortable with the level of uncertainty and public discussion on this particular matter." Sutherland added.
Australia are 1.66 to win their next ODI, against India on Sunday, with India 2.20 to come out on top in Brisbane.
